About Us
In 1976 Regional Service Center (also known as RSC) was founded by Dr. Robert Crisafi and is credited as the first company in the United States to offer outsourced pharmaceutical prepackaging services to hospitals.
Affectionately well known by customers, employees, colleagues and industry veterans as Dr. Bob, the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Florida established RSC in 1976 as a result of a pilot unit dose program that originated with nine hospitals in the Greater Boston area. RSC has conducted an uninterrupted business and provided unparalleled quality products and services for the past thirty-two (32) years, while packaging over 500 million doses. RSC recently changed its name to Safecor Health.
Safecor Health’s disciplined approach to operational excellence has it’s roots in not only providing a quality shared service for hospitals, but also in proactively working with regulatory bodies to set standards that exist today in the unit-dose repackaging industry. We worked closely with the FDA from the mid 1970’s to the present in establishing standards for “beyond-use” dating, validation work for unit dose suspensions, and various stability programs. Dr. Bob also collaborated closely with the USP Testing Laboratories in the determination of Water Vapor Transmission Rates (WVTR) for film and foil laminates used in hospital prepackaging programs, which helped establish existing USP standards for this type of packaging.
In early 2008, Safecor Health was founded by Steve Fischbach and Ryan O’Dell, two veterans of healthcare. In August of 2008, Safecor Health purchased the assets of RSC, where the Company continues to carry on the legacy of quality and compliance established over its 32 year history. Safecor Health has grown from a startup facility occupying only 300 square feet and serving 9 Boston hospitals to its present 17,000+ square foot, cutting edge packaging and manufacturing facility located just outside Boston in Woburn, MA, and serving hundreds of customers including hospitals, health systems, group purchasing organizations, long term care pharmacies, and other sites of care.
Safecor Health is a company composed of industry veterans. Our team has deep experience in medical product manufacturing and distribution, pharmaceutical distribution, automation, and hospital pharmacy. We are committed to building upon our quality reputation by investing in new products and services that help our customers address the very critical issues of patient safety.
As a result, Safecor Health’s future for our customers is very bright. First, we will ensure that we have nationwide coverage for all hospital and long term care pharmacy customers throughout the fifty states. Next, we’re investing in additional customer service resources and creating new web resources with on-line order tracking and reporting tools that will make it easy to interact with us. We plan to add new products and services that will help you achieve a higher percentage of unit-dose bar-coded products. And finally, we will continue to improve our core processes to ensure we always deliver a quality and timely product.
