Around 2008, there was anticipation that medication safety guidelines would soon recommend unit-dose, bar-coded medications for inpatient use.
At the time, there was no national platform for hospitals to go to for repackaging services, leaving hospital and health system pharmacies on their own to handle medication repackaging. Hospital pharmacy staff just couldn’t keep up and there was a clear need in the industry for a solution.
Safecor Health was started in 2008 with the goal of improving patient safety and hospital pharmacy operations through outsourced unit-dose repackaging.
Our company was founded on the premise of developing a safe and reliable non-sterile unit-dose repackaging solution for hospitals. Today, that founding premise still stands true.
While we’re known for our unit-dose repackaging services, we also offer a growing portfolio of commercial unit-dose medications available for purchase through your pharmaceutical wholesaler. We also offer contract packaging services for drug manufacturers, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), wholesalers, telehealth and direct-to-consumer companies.
Safecor Health is registered with the FDA, licensed by the DEA and all applicable state boards of pharmacy, and adheres to cGMP requirements and guidelines for packaging processes, expiration dating, and packaging components.
The Safecor Health team has more than 40 years of expertise in pharmaceutical packaging, pharmaceutical distribution, health care information technology, group purchasing organizations, and the operation of hospital pharmacies. We invest in training and education for every employee and ensure that our staff performs processes according to prescribed operating procedures.
We look at every corner of our company to see how we can improve how we serve our customers.
